1 Seamus Burke/Brian Sharkey, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo5 – exhaust
broke off on Friday, crew fixed it but car was “down on power”; misfire Saturday
afternoon – USRC - 2nd overall/2nd O4, ESRC - 1st overall/1st P1
2 Tom Lawless/Jason Gillespie, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo – rear master cylinder
problem resulted in poor brakes, improved somewhat by the service crew; anti-lag
system and intercom failing on Friday, but fixed by service crew – USRC -1st
overall/1st O4
3 Peter Workum/Chrissie Beavis, Subaru Impreza WRX STi – car was raised for the
Friday stages, and the crew was fine-tuning the rear for this ride height; this
was the team’s third rally, and both they and the car went “better and better”
according to Beavis – USRC - 3rd overall/3rd O4, ESRC - 2nd overall/2nd P1
4 Matthew Iorio/Ole Holter, Subaru Impreza – with a new engine ECU “map” and
gear ratios, plus an inoperative tachometer, Iorio admitted that he was “having
to relearn the car”; went off on ss4 and 6 on Friday; rear window broken when
branch knocked radio antenna into it on ss8, Friday; went off for good on
Saturday – USRC - dnf 04, ESCR - dnf P1
5 Ken Block/Alex Gelsomino, Subaru Impreza WRX STi -- the Vermont Sportscar team
went off on ss4 Friday, due to what Block admitted was “driver error,” and hit
something solid – USRC - dnf 04, ESRC - dnf P1
6 Peter Farrell/Kierian McElhinney, Subaru Impreza – electrical problem – USRC -
dnf O4, ESRC - dnf P1
7 Adrian McElvanney/Paul Goodman, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo4 – team came from
Ireland to run this event, but the transmission failed (except 2nd & 4th gears)
on ss3, Friday; after a transmission change, they ran a few more miles for
practice – ESRC - dnf P1
9 Patrick Lilly/Bernard Farrell, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo4 – Lilly admitted backing
off on some of the roughest Friday stages; clutch started slipping on Saturday,
and despite the addition of cola, they suffered a clutch failure in the evening
– USRC - dnf O4, ESCR – dnf P1
10 Noel Nash/Eddie Fries, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo6.5 – cigarette lighter failed on
ss4, Friday; clutch failing on Saturday, so they withdrew on Saturday evening –
USRC - dnf O4, ESRC - dnf P1
11 David Anton/Robbie Durant, Subaru Impreza WRX STi – paced themselves in the
early stages; off & stuck on ss11, Friday, damaging right front control arm and
halshaft – USRC - dnf Group N
12 Daniel O’Brien/Stephen Duffy, Subaru Impreza WRX STi – the team softened the
suspension for Friday’s stages to help with the bumps, and were pleased with the
result – USRC - 4th overall/4th O4, ESRC - 3rd overall/3rd P1
14 Otis Dimiters/Alan Ockwell, Subaru Impreza WRX STi – Dimiters took the lead
when the rally reached the forests (ss3), but went into a ditch on ss6 for 5
minutes; service crew changed a bent right front A-arm at mid-day Saturday; team
decided to “hold station” in 8th overall on Saturday evening (the 7th-place car
was a minute ahead), but they went off soon after – USRC/ESRC - dnf Group N
15 Maciej Przybysz/Dominik Jozwiak, Subaru Impreza WRX, had to change flat tire
during ss6, Friday, costing perhaps 6 min.; hit tree due to sun glare on ss7,
but crew patched body and then changed lower control arm of front suspension;
things seem to have gone smoothly after that – USRC - 7th overall/5th O4, ESRC -
19th overall/7th P1
16 Gerard Coffey/Dave Dooley, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo8 – Coffey was pleased with
how the suspension took the dips on the bumpy sections; broken steering arm at
mid-day on Saturday – ESRC - dnf P1
17 Patrick Brennan/Donah O’Leary, Subaru Impreza WRX STi – losing low-end power
on Friday; suspension not ideal for the pavement sections on Saturday – ESRC -
7th overall/1 st SS1
18 Emilio Arce/Craig Thrall, Subaru Impreza – a consistent performance from the
sole Argentine driver in the event – USRC - 5th overall/1st SS, ESRC - 6th
overall/2nd SS2
19 Donald Kennedy/Keith Kennedy, Subaru Impreza – the co-driver reported
“nothing new and exciting” (i.e. no problems) – ESRC - 10th overall/6th P1
20 Jeremy Drislane/Barry Goodman, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo4 – on Friday, suffered a
broken rear suspension on ss5 and exhaust system damage on ss8, both fixed by
the service crew; contacted something solid with the left rear corner on
Saturday morning (ss12) and something else with the front that afternoon; still
finished – ESRC - 4th overall/4th P1
21 Blake Yoon/Robert Amato, Subaru Impreza WRX – off road, reportedly hit tree –
USRC - dnf, O4
22 Scott Gardner/Constantine Mantopoulos, Audi S2 Quattro – car stalled in first
turn of ss3, Friday; engine lost power beginning with ss7, team did not know if
it was fuel or ignition; withdrew Saturday morning rather than break engine –
ESRC - dnf P1
23 Cyril Kearney/Samantha Smyth, Subaru Impreza WRX STi – mechanical problem –
ESRC – dnf SS1
24 Martin Egan/Tommy Byrne, Subaru Impreza WRX – Egan found that the pavement
stages reminded him of those in his native Ireland; exceeded maximum lateness on
Saturday – ESRC - dnf SS2
25 Martin O’Flynn/Bernhard Obry, Mitsubishi Eclipse – ESRC - 5th overall/1st SS2
26 Greg Healey/John McLeod, Datsun 280Z – Healey reported that the rear
suspension was not riding well on the bumpy sections; otherwise reliable – ESRC
- 21st overall/2nd M1
27 Joshua Wimpey/Jeremy Wimpey, Volkswagen Golf GTi – driver reported that it
took a while to get warmed up on Friday; after that they motored on to a class
win – ESRC - 11th overall/1st M2
28 Colin Bombara/Kristie Bombara, Dodge Neon – broken left front suspension
mount on ss5, Friday, caused them to miss several stages (and therefore
officially dnf) while crew rebuilt it; restarted Saturday unofficially – ESRC -
dnf M2
29 Craig Hollingsworth/Jason Grahn, Volkswagen Jetta – the 2004 Western States
class champions were trying to add to their ’05 national lead in class, and so
paced themselves, running outside of the top ten for most of the rally – USRC -
8th overall/1st O2
30 Bruce Davis/Jim Brandt, Dodge Neon SRT-4 – suspected fuel pump failure on
Friday – USRC - dnf O2
31 Mark Lawrence/Robert Maciejski, Volkswagen Golf – ESRC - 12th overall/2nd M2
32 Dave Getchell/Erik Lee, Subaru Impreza 2.5RS – broke exhaust on ss7, Friday;
small-diameter tires may have limited speed on the fastest pavement sections –
ESRC - 8th overall/1st P2
33 Scott Wilburn/Carrie Wilburn, Subaru Impreza – driver admitted that he was
getting used to the pavement sections on Saturday – ESRC - 18th overall/7th SS2
35 Robin Jones/William Sekella, Volkswagen Golf – alternator failure on ss3
caused them to miss some Friday sections (making them officially dnf); restarted
for practice after crew changed alternator and battery; stopped by transmission
problem on Saturday – ESRC - dnf O2
36 Jon Hamilton/Ken Sabo, Volkswagen Golf TDI – took it easy on bumpier stages
Friday; picked up the pace on Saturday; Hamilton reported that the spare tire
was moved up two inches by one landing; only diesel in the field, and the only
car running on biodiesel fuel, team reports that it gets 30 miles per gallon at
rally speed – ESRC - 25th overall/4th M1
37 Eric Heitkamp/Nick Lehner, Acura RSX – lost exhaust on Friday; service crew
put in a new one at mid-day Saturday, but that came off in the afternoon – ESRC

38 Wojciech Okula/Adam Pelc, Subaru Impreza WRX – hit tree on ss3, Friday,
denting right front fender (and taking a branch with them); crew patched fender
with tape and beverage can – ESRC - 13th overall/3rd SS2
39 Dan Brosnan/Chris King, Mitsubishi Galant (4wd) – electrical problem on
Friday – ESRC - 22nd overall/8th P1
40 Fintan Seeley/Paddy McCague, Subaru Impreza WRX – Seeley performed well in
his first rally – ESRC - 9th overall/5th P1
41 Eugeniusz Michniuk/Cesare Fiedlier, Subaru Impreza – Michniuk reported on
Saturday that he was happy with the car’s handling -- ESRC - 17th overall/6th

42 Michael Cosgrove/Paul Treanor, Mitsubishi Eclipse – the team said that they
planned to pace themselves for a finish, but the car went out with unspecified
mechanical problems on Saturday – ESRC - dnf SS2
43 Joan Hoskinson/Jeff Secor, Subaru Impreza – the 2004 North American champions
in class were trying to pace themselves in order to score points toward the ’05
title; didn’t practice, but found the organizers’ notes to be very good – USRC -
6th overall/2nd SS, ESRC - 16th overall/5th SS2
44 Donal McGivney/Noel Gallagher, Subaru Impreza WRX – transmission problem

cage since we last saw them; road penalty due to miscalculation on Saturday
morning; slowed by low turbo boost and bent front suspension upper arm on
